Coban LP500 Studio Deluxe Electric Guitar

This is my first electric guitar, so I thought I’d write a few words of encouragement and comment about what
is an exceptionally good guitar for both beginner and intermediate players alike. I’m certainly not experienced
enough to qualify this guitar for advanced players but from the more expensive guitars I’ve played in shops
there are many aspects of my Coban LP500 Studio Deluxe guitar that seems to match, if not outperform, them.
Now in my early 50s I’ve been a rock drummer during my teens and early twenties and have toyed with
acoustic guitars during my 30s and 40s but never really had the time to learn much, so stuck with 4 open
chords and a couple of simple 5 note arpeggios. Whilst an acoustic was always too loud for prolonged newbie-
style practice in the family home, I now find that an electric is perfect as I use a small mixer with a headphone
outlet for practice and this allows me hours of study without annoying the family.
Having looked at all the £100-200 guitars available, and tried several (some are sold with practice amps as a
kit), I found that it was often hit and miss to get one that would stay in tune, have a reasonably low action
(height of the strings above the frets) without buzzing and have decent sounding pickups. Easily warped necks
are also a pain with cheap/low quality guitars so please spend your money wisely. My recommendation is
certainly not to go for anything under £100 as many of them are so mass produced with little quality control
that the frustration of learning on a bad guitar would likely put you off playing for good.
It didn’t matter to me whether it was a ‘Les Paul’ or ‘Strat’ shaped guitar but I just needed a good quality guitar
that I would enjoy playing.
After a couple of weeks my short list was very short indeed and consisted of just the Coban LP500 Studio
Deluxe in matt black. This was mainly because the great value for money these guitars represented meant
that they came out top of the class for less than £200. The choice between the Cherry Sunburst and Matt Black
was probably the most difficult decision. I opted for the Matt Black...
Having received and unboxed the guitar it was obvious that I’d made a great decision. The solid body Les Paul
shape with chrome hardware and pickups and gold coloured knobs looks and feels awesome. The guitar came
complete with a shoulder strap, 3mtr guitar lead and some picks, and since I could plug straight into my little
mixer with my headphones on, I could just tune up and play!
I’ve now had this guitar a few weeks and I have to report that I’ve replaced the strings with some .009s super
light gauge to give a brighter sound and I’ve got a guitar stand, so it’s always available...
The Coban LP500 Studio Deluxe continues to give me great pleasure in learning to play guitar. It stays in tune
between sessions and whether I’m practicing chords or scales just sounds solid all the way. So far I’ve not
found anything to disappoint me and if I had to make the decision over, my dilemma would still be between
the Cherry Sunburst or Matt Black. Decisions, decisions...

COBAN BOWL BACK ELECTRO ACOUSTIC GUITAR, at the time it retailed at £109.00! When I saw the picture of it I couldn't believe that someone could produce a guitar of this detail & finish just looked like an Ovation bowl back without the big price tag! I ordered one straightaway. When it arrived I was so pleased with it, it had a really good finish & nice colour with gold tuning heads bowled back with the 22 sound holes & leaves effect. The action was great on it & had a nice acoustic sound for a bowl back & when plugged in it burst into life with a powerful preamp on board with equalizer adjuster tone & bass.

Coban Acoustic round back in Honey what a great guitar I can’t believe the sound is fantastic and the cost was so good.
